Privacy Notes
We always collect anonymous statistical information, and may record contact information about you if you leave a calling card.
Your Contact Information
We ask for 3 pieces of information on your calling card:
- name;
- phone number; and
- website.
We collect this information with the express intention of contacting you to discuss your business needs. We do not deliberately make this information available to any 3rd party. We email it directly to ourselves, and do not store it on our web-server.
We remember the name you supply on future visists when you use the same Internet browser on the same computer. To do this, we ask your browser to remember your name and send it back to us when you next visit, using a 'cookie'. Only your name (no phone number, no email address) is stored in the cookie.
For your privacy, we ask your browser to send the cookie only to us. However, browsers at various times have had security flaws which might allow a malicious 3rd-party website to read this cookie, thereby discovering:
- your name; and
- the fact that you visited thriveonline.com.au, and
- the time and date you last did so.
If you do not trust your web-browser to properly manage this cookie, please do not supply your name to us using the calling card. If you find you have supplied this information before you fully understood the implications, click the 'forget me' button in the side-bar at right, and the cookie will be removed.
We have not thought it significant to encrypt either your communications to us with your browser, nor the email which we send to ourselves containing your contact details. In theory, this could make your information vulnerable to a 'man in the middle' attack (generally, compromised mail-transport-relays or HTTP proxy-servers) to recover contact information you send us. If disclosure of any information you provide by this mechanism would constitute a privacy or security risk for you, please do not supply your name to us using the calling card.
Anonymous Statistics
We use a 3rd party tracking service called Ecommstats, to keep track of things like what website (if any) referred you to our site, which pages you visited, the order in which you visited them, and which ones you appeared to linger over or ignored (this information is also available in our web-server logs).
One of the pieces of information we do record in our server logs is your IP address. This is ususally sufficient to identify your (or your work's) Internet Service Provider, but not useful for identifying or contacting you without the complicity of your ISP, circumstantial or direct evidence you were the person using your computer at a given time, and a good deal of luck.
We only ever use this information to improve the usefulness of the website to visitors such as yourself.
